As you spend most of your time with your smartphone than yourself. You must be aware of the display of your smartphone. In this short article, I will tell you different types of displays are used by smartphone manufacturers.
1)AMOLED
2)Super AMOLED
3)TFT LCD
4)IPS-LCD
5)Capacitive Touchscreen LCD
1)AMOLED
AMOLED is one type of OLED display. AMOLED stands for Active-Matrix
Organic Light-Emitting Diode. AMOLED is lightweight and gives a better contrast
ratio. This display is very power efficient which eventually saves the battery
of your smartphone.
AMOLED Display gives very high brightness with sharp picture quality.
Due to its amazing quality, this display acquires the majority of the smartphone
market. Nowadays this kind of display is also used in smartwatches and fitness bands.
Dynamic AMOLED display used in Samsung Smartphone such as S20 Ultra 5G and S20+ 5G.
2)Super AMOLED
It is an advanced version of the AMOLED display which was recently developed
by Samsung. The Super AMOLED display is built with an inbuilt touch sensor in
the display itself. Instead of giving an extra layer of touch above the display, they built a single display with an inbuilt touch sensor.
So Super AMOLED is the thinnest display in the market. It has a wide
range of colors with an immersive viewing experience. This display comes with
incredibly sharp resolution.
It has a contrast ratio of 100,000:1. It can automatically adapt to various environmental conditions which makes it easy to view in any condition. This type of display used in a high range of smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G, Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy A80.
3)TFT-LCD
TFT is known for Thin Film Transistor Technology. It is mostly found in
buf=dget smartphones but widely used in many smartphones. TFT LCD gives better
picture quality with high resolution. But it has narrow viewing angles and poor
visibility in daylight conditions.
Huge TFT LCD displays consume more power hence it is not power efficient. TFT display used in a mid-range smartphone such as Samsung galaxy A20e, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M10.
4)IPS-LCD
IPS knew for In-Place Switching. It is the next version of the TFT display.
Where IPS is much superior to TFT. IPS overcomes all the limitations of TFT
Display. It has wide viewing angles and is more power-efficient. It is costlier
than TFT display, That’s why it is not found in budget smartphones.
IPS-LCD display used in Xiaomi budget smartphone like Redmi 9A, Redmi 9, Redmi 9C, 8A Dual, and 9i, etc.
5)Capacitive LCD
Capacitive LCD display technology has a layer of glass
fasten with transparent conductors. This technology uses the human body's electric
current to work. It comes with a four-layer composite glass screen.
The inner layer of the glass screen is coated with one layer of ITO. The outermost layer is made up of a thin layer of silica soil glass
protective layer.
When our finger touches the metal layer, then the user's finger and the
metal layer forms a coupling capacitor due to electric waves in the human body.
